The Burj Dubai is going to be the world's tallest tower. Located in Dubai, like the Burj Al Arab, the Burj Dubai will surpass the Taipei 101, the current tallest building, by far. It has long been thought that the Empire State Building was the tallest building in the world, but that hasn't been so since 1972. Since 1972 the Empire State Building has been surpassed in hight by the World Trade Center, the Sears Tower, the Petronas Twin Towers, and the Taipei 101 Tower. The Burj Dubai's arhcitect is Adrian Smith, an American who has designed many skyscrapers before. The construction of the Burj Dubai will make this building the tallest in the world, surpassing the Taipei by about 300m.
